MLM Books | What Daryl Hannah Taught Me About MLM Books
Let me start by saying that I’m not a great reader of MLM Books. When I was in college (a few years back) I spent three years reading somewhere between 10 to 15 books a week, from William Blake to William Shakespeare to William K Dick (of Blade Runner fame) often reading into the small hours and regularly running three or more books alongside each other. It was a lot of fun in the beginning and my mind grew like a body builders biceps on steroids but after a while it became work and hard work at that. So when college ended and I hit the road with my English Lit degree firmly tucked beneath my arm, I decided to take a well earned rest from literature for a while.
Twenty years later, I found myself heading away for a two week holiday with my beautiful wife and our three children in need of some light reading – I had thrown my copy of Blade Runner away (“Do Androids dream of Electric Sheep” for anyone wondering what the book was called) after watching Daryl Hannah with her legs wrapped around Harrison Ford’s neck. It was never quite the same after that
So, science fiction cast to one side, my need was fulfilled with a handful of network marketing or MLM books.
If you’re in a rush and don’t want to listen to me (that’s okay, really) and want to see a great book about network marketing…
Okay…
Back to Daryl Hannah
Sorry, couldn’t resist that one.
Now, for those of you who have the time to improve your mind and increase your knowledge of the network marketing industry I must warn you; this wasn’t an easy list to draw up and it is by no means the only list of MLM books you’ll find online. It’s a place to start and one which I would recommend for anyone serious about building a network marketing business.
There’s a line in the book (Bladerunner that is) that goes ; They don’t advertise for killers in the newspaper. That was my profession. Ex-cop. Ex-blade runner. Ex-killer
Searching for useful, practical, usable network marketing tips can be a little bit like that at times; with so much hype and so many self-proclaimed MLM Mentors out there fishing for your business the good stuff often gets sunk beneath a sea of junk.
There are a few tried and true classic books on MLM that have stood the test of time and helped thousands of successful MLM professionals jump start their careers (or stay on track if nothing else) and the list below has taken a few of those and offered them up for your appreciation. Let me know below if you have any other suggestions to add to my list of MLM books.
- Been There, Done That by Dr. Joe Rubino
This is an MLM classic that teaches you how to build a profitable network though relationship building and prospecting. The author teaches the reader how to shed fear and doubt, overcome objections, and literally become a people magnet. You will learn actual how to’s not just vague concepts and you’ll develop a business plan that will be the roadmap for your future. Successful multilevel marketers swear by this book as a guide to growing a thriving downline.
- Network Marketing: What you should know by Jeffrey Babener
This book is considered an MLM must have and a classic but the principles of his methods still apply. You will learn how to avoid the top ten first year pitfalls that trip up most first year marketers. It is written in a straightforward, plain English style that breaks down complex concepts and makes them easy for the layperson to understand. The author is an expert in MLM law and can help teach network marketers how to avoid any legal snares involving prospecting and sales.
- Miracles Happen : The Life and Timeless Principles of the Founder of Mary Kay Inc. by Mary Kay Ash
This is not a how-to MLM book, but it is an inspirational story and there are plenty of gems you can take from the story of how Mary Kay Ash began her MLM cosmetics empire. She lays out her business philosophies, which have proven to be timeless philosophies almost half a century later. Many successful marketers have found guidance and inspiration from this book, women especially.
Ash started her business with $5,000 – every penny she had saved in the bank – and became one of the must successful women in the world using the network marketing business model. Those who need a pick me up, or a bit of inspiration to get up in the morning and hit the internet and the phones will enjoy this book.
- Your First Year in Network Marketing by Mark Yarnell
The author of this book is a well respected expert on growing an MLM business. He outlines practical tactics for surviving your first year in multilevel marketing, which is also the most critical year. He helps you lay the foundation for selling,
creating a downline and keeping that downline motivated to sell and recruit. He teaches you how to plant the seeds for a thriving business and survive the worst year you may ever have while building your personal MLM success story – your first year. Finally, once you’ve read this MLM book pick up Mark’s updated or revised read, Your Best Year In Network Marketing – this is a great addition and in typical Yarnell style, lays it out like it is.
While many of these classic MLM books might not be up do date with the latest internet techniques and trends, all MLM is based on the same concepts and principles and these books are a great way to get yourself started and stay grounded while building your future in network marketing…remember, it’s the journey that matters!
